Disaster Preparation and Recovery
Successful recovery is a result of years of preparation and thoughtful implementation. Hilton Head Island learned from every evacuation and near miss to hone its All Hazards Plan, to put into place debris management contracts and, perhaps most importantly, to develop the reserve funds, and other funding strategies, that enabled the Town to immediately begin the clean-up and recovery from Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and Irma in 2017. The Town cleaned up over 3 million cubic yards of debris, at a cost of some $54 million, and successfully processed the paperwork to maximize FEMA reimbursement. Let Steve assist your community with its planning, preparation, and response efforts.
